The visit of Norwegian friends (NOSAG)

The New Abraham Center Welcomed three Norwegian friends:

  1. Bjarne Schirmer -Head of NOSNAG (Norway Support New Abraham Gaza).

  2. Mai Evy Bakken -Head of Norwegian Folk High School.

  3. Randi Frellumstad sanctioned by NORAD to undertake an external assessment of the New Abraham Center.

Duration Of the visit :

It was a five days visit from July 27, 2002 (Saturday) to July 31,2002 (Wednesday)
  • They met 3 of the Abraham Center's board of trustees staff, the teachers, and the friends of the center.

  • They met all the students in Hebrew class, English class, and Arabic for foreigners class.

  • They visited the P.R.C.S (Palestinian Red Crescent Society) and attended the first Song Festival in Gaza.

  • They went to UNSCO office and met Miss. Susan Asomaning the Administrative officer of UNSCO. and she exclaimed "There had not been a bridge-building institution like The New Abraham Center in Gaza, The AC works for peace process would come to a standstill and is making a big difference in Gaza.


  • They met the General Director of Ministry of Higher Education Mr. Mohammed Abu Jarad. and he commented: "The New Abraham Center is Important in Gaza and enjoys our moral support for two reasons:


    1. It does serious work of a highly professional standard in the field of language education.

    2. The Center is an active vehicle of culture and a forum for exchanging views, both of which are of vital importance at this time."



  • They visited The Holst Cultural Center.
(Association for Holst Bark).




  • The Norwaigian group also visited The Vocational and Technical School (G.T.C) which is sponsered by the United Nations Relief & Work (UNRWA).


 

The New Abraham Center organized different tours in Gaza to explain the situation and the daily life in Gaza nowadays.


The Purpose of the visit:




Miss Mai Evy explained in details with visual aids what is Folk High School.


She considered that The New Abraham Center is a FHS, but it is in need for a dormitory.
